Fall Leaf-Removal Tips from the City

Here is info on Leaf Disposal from the City of Rockford:

"FALL LEAF TIPS: The City of Rockford will pick up leaves through November 29th if put in 30-40 gallon biodegradable 2-ply paper bags or a standard garbage can with a bold “X” facing the outward. The containers should be placed in the same location as your garbage pickup and will be collected on your normal collection day.

Leaves should not be blown or raked into the street. While street sweepers will pick up naturally falling leaves and debris, raked leaves and yard waste can clog the sweepers.

Please don’t allow your leaves and yard waste to collect near or wash down storm drains, detention areas or drainage ways.

It is also illegal to burn leaves within the city limits. For questions, contact the City of Rockford Community Development Dept. at 815-987-5566."
