City of Gardens Summer Activities

The Rockford Park District's "City of Gardens" program has announced its programs for Summer 2010:
  • "Let's Get Growing" - City of Gardens is hosting a free "Let's Get Growing" workshop from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Wed., May 5 at the Webbs Norman Center at 401 S. Main.  The workshop will address answers to last-minute planting questions for plants and vegetables, and will present info on how to use the vegetables that you grow in recipes.  Pre-registered attendees will receive a free recipe book provided by Learn Great Foods, and Orput will share information on the upcoming Farmer’s Market schedule at Edgebrook. The Park District’s City of Gardens will get you started with a free plant. To register, please call 815-987-1689 or fax the downloadable form below to 815-987-1671.  Pre-registration is required to receive the free recipe book and plant.  Refreshments will be served.
  • "Top Pot" Contest - The City of Gardens is also sponsoring a flower-pot gardening contest this summer.  Entries must be received by July 15, by mailing photos to the Park District or posting the photos on the City of Gardens Facebook page.  Full details are included in the downloadable form below, and by calling 815-987-1689.
